HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS
One of the things we enjoy most about the Cellar Door is meeting our regular visitors who come back year after year. Like the couple who call in to visit us and stock up with our wines every year for their annual holiday in Kununurra.
“We’ll have two cases of Fimiston,” the wife said. “We’re in Kununurra for two weeks each year, so I like to make sure we have enough wine while we’re there.”
“The thing is,” interjected her husband, “by the time we get to Kununurra, there’s never any wine left!”
Perhaps next time they’ll leave with a few extra cases?
HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES
Not so long ago, a Canadian from Belgrade (I know, it’s a little odd!) and a few of his friends called in for a cellar door tasting. When Gwen, who was serving, asked which wines he’d like to taste, his reply was instant, “I’ll taste the whole lot!”
The first wine of the Brown Hill range impressed him and he shared some words of praise with his friends. With each successive wine he tried, he became more and more excited until finally, when tasting the final wine, our new Perseverance Cabernet Merlot, his excitement crescendoed. He burst out with, “This is a symphony! The flavours are so integrated, making beautiful music. Oh the notes!”
Ever on the ball, Gwen supplied a quick retort, “Well, that must make me the conductor then.”

FLYING FIMISTON
A regular Brown Hill visitor called at the cellar door recently and recounted a terrific story to us.
A short while ago, he and his wife went on a trip to New Zealand. While queuing at Perth airport to have their baggage checked, they couldn't help but notice the passengers in front of them.
Why? Because they had two cases of Brown Hill Fimiston Shiraz stacked on their trolley.
"You've got a good drop there," our regular commented.
The travellers agreed, saying, "We wouldn't leave the country without it!"
WINE, ACOUSTICS AND SONG
The Rosa Brook community was recently
treated to an evening of a cappella music
with talented group, Tuxedo Junction. The
next day, as they were heading off to their
next venue, the singers popped in to visit
Brown Hill and treat themselves to a tipple
or two.
The treat ended up being all ours as the
group, so taken with the wines, burst into
song. They performed several tunes
amongst the oak barrels including
Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Our awe at
having such a spontaneous event occur
right in our own cellar door was matched
by their awe at the acoustics of the winery,
which they deemed ‘fantastic’.
TRAINS, PLANES AND…
Over the years, we’ve seen visitors to Brown Hill arrive in all sorts of transport. There’s been everything from your straightforward car to utes, motorbikes, tour buses, Winnebagos and trucks. Some dedicated winelovers have even arrived on foot, on horseback and by pushbike. And it seems we’re about to add a new mode of transport to our list – helicopter.
A newly established wine tour company is in the throes of setting up helicopter tours of Margaret River. We’ve been touted as one of the must-see destinations of the region, so they’ve approached us to be part of their premium wine tour.
We couldn’t be more pleased and proud that they’ve chosen us.
So far we’ve only had a land survey to establish the best spot for a helipad. I’ll keep you posted on progress in the next newsletter – we’d love to see you chopper in for a tasting!
